Mission Statement
Precious Pearls Children Outreach Ministries, Inc.
Established 2003
Mission Statement:
The mission of PPCOM is to reach children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, while providing for their physical and emotional needs in order to build their faith and character so that they become well equipped disciples of Christ serving in their community.
Ministry Purpose:
Precious Pearls Children Outreach Ministries, Inc. exists to provide educational sponsorship for underprivileged children in the urban center of Eldoret, Kenya through the Bible-based local ministry of Precious Pearls Outreach Center and Christian Academy. Our mission through the local organization is to build self-sustaining structures and facilities that will reach destitute and disinherited children through evangelical Christian activities and provide them with a means to access Christian education, counseling and vocational training. The objective is to reach these children with the gospel of Jesus Christ, while providing for their physical and emotional needs restoring these children’s dignity, and over time to build their faith and character which will result in stronger families. The goal is that these children become disciples of Christ well equipped as young adults, possessing lifestyle and marketplace skills, to overcome the prevailing conditions of poverty and disease able to influence their community for Christ into the next generation.
Ministry Specific Statement of Faith
While we hold to a statement of faith provided in the following section in which the whole of the Bible is the Word of God regarded as complete for faith and practice, we as members of a board involved in a ministry helping destitute children, derive our specific motivation in Christ Jesus in relation to two New Testament teachings: 1) the parable of the Good Samaritan and 2) Christ’s actions to bless the little children.
The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25 ff) teaches us that wherever we have the opportunity and the means to help a person in physical need, we must act in faith in a way that fulfills our ultimate purpose – to glorify God in the world. We believe that faith in action demonstrates, in its completeness and extent, the redeeming love demonstrated toward us in Christ Jesus (Romans 5:8). From the parable of the Good Samaritan we derive an imputed scope of responsibility (e.g. who is our neighbor?) from the fact that as partakers in a world market enabled by global economic structures, our opportunity to bless to those extents arises out of the same global means and methods. We believe and are motivated that just as the Good Samaritan provided for the man beaten and abandoned in his market economy; we must exert the same thoroughness in ours where the opportunity exists, the means and methods accessible, unto the extents afforded by the global economic structures.
From the gospels’ accounting of Christ’s actions to bless the little children we derive a clear mandate to be assisting children helpless and oppressed by prevailing conditions. In this we aim to lead these children to life and liberty that is only truly found in Christ. “Let the little children come to me and do not forbid them; for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Mark 10:13) This strong statement by Christ to his disciples aimed at adjusting their ministry focus serves as a clarion call to our ministry to bless children where we have the opportunity. The principle is not to be self absorbed with sustaining the ministry as an enterprise, but to be faithful to the call, trusting the Lord to provide.
In summary, we believe that our motivation to bless children, as an act of worship glorifying God, is compelled by 1) a conviction to our scope of responsibility and 2) a response to Christ’s redeeming actions toward us in His obedience to the cross.
We believe our specific calling is to the children in the urban region of Eldoret, Kenya who are oppressed by many prevailing conditions which include poverty, disease, deceased or debilitated parents, malnutrition, insufficient governing structures, and inaccessible educational facilities.
Ministry Specific Means
As for the specific means, this ministry to children in the urban center of Eldoret Kenya is enabled through a Kenyan man and his wife who are founders, and a Kenyan Ministry board who are themselves indigenous people. Being native to the prevailing conditions they are committed in a national effort toward their countrymen and well suited to make wise decisions about their best care in the long term where repatriation is a key consideration. As believers they are empowered by the Holy Spirit and share in a heavenly cause to Christ’s Kingdom on earth. Having completed training and education in the US, our founder is considered qualified to receive assistance through the US board. The Kenyan Board is now networked in the community with other children’s rescue organizations in which they share resources and collaborate within government oversight. Our founder is united with the culture and its crisis, is trained to minister, is experienced in responding to the need, is seasoned in submitting to its humiliation, is qualified by education and training to counsel children, and ordained through an evangelical association in the US to do this ministry work.
